Awakening

Awakening is a multimedia video installation, conceived for Oum El Nour to act as a catalyst for change. It offers the viewer an interplay between the body and the mind.

The turtle is painted in bronze as a symbolic representation of regaining one's self-worth. A tiny window allows her thoughts to be projected through the third eye.

The projection is accompanied by an immersive sound and reveals a flutter of white butterflies highlighting inner calm and the wish to reintegrate into society.

The installation represents the strength and goodwill required to achieve release from one's addiction.

Awakening was conceived in aid of a drug addiction rehabilitation initiative. Farrell was amongst 15 artist and designers commissioned to reinterpret Ghassan Zard's turtle.
